Bu ikili seri, Japon felsefesindeki wabi-sabi kavramıyla ilişkilidir. Bu kavram, doğadaki mükemmel olmayan, kusurlu güzelliğin takdirini ifade eder. Kusurluluğun, geçiciliğin ve doğanın döngüselliğinin estetik bir değer olarak görüldüğü bu estetik anlayışta, zaman, bu geçiciliği var eden ve anlamlandıran temel unsurdur. Bu resimlerde betimlenen kurumuş otlar, yosun tutmuş taşlar, çöken sis bu anlamı güçlendiren imgelerdir.
This dual series relates to the concept of wabi-sabi in Japanese philosophy. This concept expresses an appreciation for the imperfect, flawed beauty found in nature. In this aesthetic understanding, where imperfection, transience and the cyclical nature of nature are seen as aesthetic values, time is the fundamental element that creates and gives meaning to this transience. The withered grass, moss-covered stones and descending mist depicted in these paintings are images that reinforce this meaning.
