Çocukluğumda bahçemizdeki ağaçlar bana bu çalışmayı oluşturma fikrine ilham verdi. Her yıl, ağaçları budarken yeni dallardan bazılarını seçip daha fazla meyve hasat edebikmek için ona biçim vermeye çalışırız; fakat ağaç, planladığımız şekle rağmen kendi yolunu izler ve her sene yeni sürgünler, yani yeni taze dallar verir. Bu durum bana, insanın doğadan kopuşunu ve kendini ayrı, üstün bir konuma koyma eğilimini düşündürür.Nirekim insan olarak bizim gelişimimiz, sahip olduğumuz doğal kaynaklarla doğru orantılıdır.Aksi halde varoluşumuzun sonu kaçınılmazdır.Bana göre ulaşabileceğimiz en olgun nokta, doğayla uyum içinde yaşamayı öğrenmek ve bu bütünün bir parçası olduğumuzu fark etmektir.
İlerleme ve gelişim ne kadar görkemli olursa olsun, doğayla uyum içinde olmadığı sürece anlamını yitirir; insan, üstün veya ayrı değil, kökleriyle bağlı olduğu dünyanın bir parçasıdır.
As a child, the trees in our garden inspired me to create this work. Every year, when we prune the trees, we select some of the new branches and try to shape them to harvest more fruit; yet the tree, despite the form we impose, follows its own path and each year produces new shoots, fresh branches. This made me reflect on humanity’s estrangement from nature and our tendency to place ourselves in a separate, superior position. Indeed, our development as humans is directly tied to the natural resources we possess. Otherwise, the end of our existence is inevitable. In my view, the highest point we can reach is to learn to live in harmony with nature and recognize that we are part of this whole.
Progress and development, no matter how grand, lose their meaning if they are not in harmony with nature; humans are not superior or separate, but deeply rooted as part of the world.
