“Miras” isimli çalışma, doğarken alınan ilk nefes, anneden çocuğa geçen görünmeyen genetik kod, bir duygunun nesilden nesile taşınması, bir anlatının bedende yaşam bulmasına dair bir yolculuktur. Nesiller öncesinde yaşananlar bir sonraki nesilde yankılanır. Gizli öykülerin ve yutkunulmuş çığlıkların devamı ile anneden çocuğa geçen şey yalnızca gen değil, bir anlatıdır, bir mücadeledir.
Çalışmada yer alan fotoğraflar, benimle son bulan 5 neslin gerçek fotoğraflarıdır. Fotoğrafların birbirini takip edişi, genetik aktarım ile süre gelen devamlılığı temsil etmektedir. Aktarımın sonucu ise, sahip olduğumuz en büyük miras olan genetik mirasımızdır. Hücrelerle birlikte nesillerin bıraktığı izler, bir sonraki kuşağa geçen, bastırılan ve fısıldananların aynasıdır. Bırakılan izler, mücadeleyi tamamlamaya, yarım kalan cümleyi bitirmeye ve onun bedeninden dökülenleri geleceğe aktarıyor olacaktır. Böylece hafızanın mirası, varlığımızın mucizevi bütünlüğü, bizden önceki nesillerden aldığımız genetik hücrelerle, yepyeni bir yaşam olarak var olmaya devam edecektir.
“Heritage” is a work about the first breath taken at birth, the invisible genetic code passed from mother to child, the transmission of an emotion across generations, and the journey of a narrative finding life within the body. What was lived generations ago resonates in the next. Alongside hidden stories and swallowed cries, what passes from mother to child is not only a gene but also, a narrative, a struggle.
The photographs included in the work are real images of five generations that end with me. Their succession represents the continuity sustained through genetic transmission. The ultimate outcome of this transmission is our greatest legacy: our genetic heritage. With the cells come the traces left by past generations, reflections of what has been repressed, whispered, and carried forward to the next. These traces work to complete the struggle, to finish the unfinished sentence, and to carry into the future what once overflowed from another’s body. Thus, the heritage of memory, the miraculous wholeness of our existence continues to live on as a new life through the genetic cells we inherit from those who came before us.
