‘Gelişen teknolojiye ve değişen kapital düzene rağmen, insanın birbirine bakabildiği, yüzünü gördüğü ve ortak bir gülümseme paylaştığı kamusal alanlar için kurgulanmış, amorf ve modüler bir bank tasarımı.’
Gelişen teknoloji, hızla değişen kapital düzen ve geleceğe yüklenen kaygılar… İnsan, dünyanın her köşesiyle tek bir dokunuşla bağ kurabiliyor; ama kol uzaklığındaki insanın gözlerine bakmayı unutuyor. Sokakta yüzler gülmüyor; çünkü hepimiz bir ekrana, bir hedefe, bir sonraki adıma kilitlenmişiz. Geçtiğimiz yıl İspanya’da yaşanan elektrik kesintisi, bu unuttuğumuz şeyi kısa bir an için yeniden hatırlattı: insanlar sokaklara çıktı, birbirine baktı, konuştu, güldü. Karanlıkta ışığı, birbirlerinde buldular.
Bu proje, o anın duygusundan ilham alıyor. Gaudí’nin masalsı şehirler yaratan kentsel seramikleri gibi, kamusal alanı yeniden “insana ait bir yer” haline getirmeyi amaçlayan amorf ve modüler bir bank tasarımı sunuyor. Neşeli renkleriyle, herkesin birbirinin yüzünü görebileceği bu form; büyüyebilen, birleşebilen, çoğalabilen bir birliktelik sembolü. “İyi bak dünyana” diyerek hem çevremize hem birbirimize yeniden yakınlaşmayı, teknolojinin kopardığı bağı el emeğiyle onarmayı hatırlatıyor.
Bu bank, sadece oturmak için değil; yeniden gülümsemek, yeniden bakmak, yeniden bağ kurmak için.
“Despite developing technologies and the rapidly shifting capitalist structure, this project presents an amorphous and modular bench design for public spaces—places where people can look at one another, see each other’s faces, and share a common smile.”
Developing technology, a fast-changing capitalist order, and anxieties projected onto the future… Today, a person can connect with every corner of the world with a single touch; yet we forget to look into the eyes of the person within arm’s reach. Faces on the street no longer smile, because we are all locked into a screen, a target, the next step. Last year, the power outage in Spain reminded us—if only for a brief moment—of what we had forgotten: people went out into the streets, looked at each other, talked, and laughed. In the darkness, they found light within one another.
This project is inspired by that feeling. Like Gaudí’s urban ceramics that create fairytale-like cities, it introduces an amorphous and modular bench design that seeks to make public space “a place that belongs to people” once again. With cheerful colors and a form that allows everyone to see one another’s face, it becomes a symbol of togetherness—able to grow, connect, multiply. By saying “Take good care of your world,” it reminds us to reconnect with our surroundings and with one another, repairing with craft what technology has pulled apart.
This bench is not only for sitting; it is for smiling again, looking again, and connecting again.
