Otlar büyür, nehirler akar, mevsimler değişir. Doğa, kendi ritmi içinde zahmetsizce var olur. Taoist düşüncede bu kendiliğindenlik hali wu wei olarak adlandırılır: Oluşun, müdahale edilmeden kendi yönünü bulmasına izin veren bir açıklık. “Kendiliğindenliğin Kıyısında” serisi, bu anlayışı özünde taşır ve manzarayı bir süreç olarak ele alır. İlk bakışta kaotik, rastlantısal görünen bitkisel formlar, doğaya içkin düzene işaret eder. Tuval yüzeyinde resmin ortaya çıkış süreci de bitkilerin topraktan kendiliğinden filizlenmesi, büyümesi ve yeryüzünü sarmasıyla benzer biçimde gerçekleşir. Seri, doğanın kendiliğindenliğini yüzeyde bir kez daha deneyimsel olarak ortaya koyar.
Grass grows, rivers flow, seasons change. Nature exists effortlessly within its own rhythm. In Taoist thought, this state of spontaneity is called wu wei: an openness that allows becoming to find its own direction without interference. The series At the Edge of Spontaneity embodies this understanding and approaches landscape as a process. The vegetal forms, which at first appear chaotic and accidental, point to an order inherent in nature. The process of the painting emerging on the canvas surface occurs in a similar way to plants sprouting spontaneously from the soil, growing, and covering the earth. The series renders nature’s spontaneity experientially present once again on the surface.
