SİBEL KARAMUSTAFA (Eskişehir, 1974)

İnsanların hem bireysel hem de toplumsal varoluşu nasıl mümkündür? Bu heykelde her biri bir ruhu temsil eden balonlar aslında birbirlerine kadersel bir bağla bağlı, diğer taraftan bir ızgara ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Bireyin ait olma arzusu ile özgürlük isteği birbiriyle çatışmaktadır. Diğer taraftan özgür olduğunu düşünen ancak, farkında olmadan ya da zorunlu olarak toplumsal normlara göre biçimlenen özne görülmektedir.

How is human existence possible, both individually and socially? In this sculpture, balloons, each representing a soul, are actually bound to each other by a fateful connection, while being confined by a grid. The individual’s desire to belong conflicts with their desire for freedom. On the other hand, we see a subject who believes themselves to be free, yet is unconsciously or necessarily shaped by social norms
