“Gül Takıntısı”, sanatçının göç, aidiyet, bellek ve kimlik temalarını gül imgesi üzerinden ele aldığı kişisel bir projedir. Bulgaristan’dan Türkiye’ye göç etmiş bir geçmişin izlerini taşıyan sanatçı için gül, çocukluk anıları, kültürel kökler ve annesiyle kurduğu bağın simgesidir. Bu seri, parçalanmış aidiyet duygusunu ve geçmişe duyulan özlemi, gülün kokusu, formu ve dokusu aracılığıyla görselleştirir. “Gül Takıntısı”, doğa ile bireysel tarih arasında kurulan kırılgan ama kalıcı bir bağı araştırırken, izleyiciyi de belleğin şiirsel bir yolculuğuna davet eder. Çalışmalar, deneysel karanlık oda ve 19. yüzyıl fotografik baskı teknikleriyle üretilmiş fotogramlardan oluşmaktadır.
“Obsessed with Roses” is a personal project in which the artist explores themes of migration, belonging, memory, and identity through the image of the rose. For the artist, who carries the traces of a past shaped by migration from Bulgaria to Turkey, the rose symbolizes childhood memories, cultural roots, and her connection with her mother. This series visualizes a fragmented sense of belonging and a longing for the past through the scent, form, and texture of the rose. Obsessed with Roses investigates a fragile yet enduring bond between nature and personal history, inviting the viewer on a poetic journey through memory. The works consist of photograms produced using experimental darkroom methods and 19th-century photographic printing techniques.
Ergül Karagözoğlu, fotoğraf, seramik ve heykel gibi farklı disiplinlerde üretim yapan bir sanatçıdır. Deneysel fotoğrafçılık ve 19. yüzyıl fotografik baskı teknikleri üzerine uzmanlaşan Karagözoğlu, analog müdahaleler, kimyasal süreçler ve alternatif baskılarla ürettiği el yapımı işlerinde bellek, beden, göç ve aidiyet temalarını işler. Fotoğrafı yalnızca bir temsil aracı değil; zaman, yüzey ve dönüşümle ilişkili çok katmanlı bir deneyim olarak ele alır. Kadın bedeni ve doğaya dair semboller, hem fotoğraf hem de seramik üretiminde tekrar eden motifler arasında yer alır. İspanya ve Güney Kore gibi ülkelerde sergilere katılmış, birçok uluslararası festivale davet edilmiştir. Hâlen Bodrum’da yaşamakta ve Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi’nde Sanatta Yeterlik eğitimine devam etmektedir.
Ergül Karagözoğlu is an artist producing work across various disciplines such as photography, ceramics, and sculpture. Specializing in experimental photography and 19th-century photographic printing techniques, Karagözoğlu explores themes of memory, the body, migration, and belonging in her handmade works created through analog interventions, chemical processes, and alternative printing methods. She approaches photography not merely as a tool of representation but as a multilayered experience related to time, surface, and transformation. Symbols related to the female body and nature are recurring motifs in both her photographic and ceramic production. She has participated in exhibitions in countries such as Spain and South Korea and has been invited to numerous international festivals. She currently lives in Bodrum and continues her Proficiency in Art (practice-based PhD) education at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University.
